Mosquito Control

Mosquito Control in Jacksonville, NC and the surrounding areas

You may ask yourself, do I need outdoor mosquito treatment? The fact is this common pest can not only be a nuisance but also detrimental to you and your families health. Mosquitoes are not only pests but they also can transmit many disease-causing viruses and parasites. Infected mosquitoes carry these organisms from person to person without showing symptoms themselves.

We can all remember a time when we were outside and you felt that first bite. It seems that no matter how many coats of bug spray we layer on ourselves we still suffer they’re all to familiar sting. Take back your yard and enjoy the outdoors with your friends and family.

Mosquito Control: Protect Your Home and Health

Mosquito infestations can turn your outdoor spaces into a nuisance — and a health risk. These biting pests thrive in North Carolina’s warm, humid climate and breed quickly in standing water, leading to persistent infestations if not treated promptly.

Beyond their itchy bites and constant buzzing, mosquitoes can transmit several serious diseases, including:

West Nile Virus: Can cause fever, headaches, body aches, nausea, and, in rare cases, neurological complications.
Zika Virus: Typically mild but poses serious risks during pregnancy, potentially leading to birth defects such as microcephaly.
Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE): A rare but dangerous virus found in the eastern U.S. that can cause severe inflammation of the brain.
Tularemia: A bacterial disease that can be spread by certain mosquito species and other biting insects.

Prompt, professional mosquito control is essential to protect your family’s comfort, safety, and peace of mind. Let Modern Exterminating help you reclaim your outdoor spaces — and enjoy your home all season long.

How to Spot Mosquitos

Frequent Bites Outdoors

If you notice you’re being bitten shortly after stepping outside, it’s a clear sign of mosquito activity nearby. Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk, especially in humid or shaded areas. Regular bites indicate a breeding site may be close to your home.

Buzzing or Swarming at Dusk

A noticeable increase in buzzing around porches, patios, or entryways during the evening often signals an infestation. Mosquitoes are drawn to body heat and carbon dioxide, so frequent swarms indicate they’ve established nearby.

Standing Water Around the Property

Mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant water—even small amounts. Buckets, flower pots, gutters, and birdbaths can all serve as breeding grounds. Checking and emptying standing water regularly helps reduce mosquito populations around your Jacksonville property.

Mosquito Larvae in Water

Look closely at any outdoor water sources—if you see small, wriggling larvae at the surface, mosquitoes are breeding there. These larvae mature quickly into biting adults. Modern Exterminating’s mosquito control treatments target both larvae and adult mosquitoes for full-season protection.

Robert was great. Showed up on time and got right after it. Was asking me if we had been having any issues with bugs and I mentioned that we had been seeing a few outside at night when taking the dogs out. Not only did he spray but also came back with some granular insecticide and spread that in the areas we had been seeing them. Cannot tell you how much we HATE bugs and Robert and Modern make sure we don't have them. We get a treatment every 3 months and it's some of the best money spent!

Thanks, Art Turner PS This is to inform you because of Josh, we were able to report the info that Josh gave us about water under the house and they fixed the malfunctioning equipment today. That shows that even when we don’t see him doing the inspection that he is looking out for us. Kudos for Josh.
